Let’s Go For A Ride!

Bharat bandh today! Back in the day when I was in school we used to be very happy during such days as it meant holiday and the result of class test would be deferred by a day. But growing up, I realised that it is not just the result of class tests which get deferred but the progress of the nation also gets deferred by days. Anyone who calls for a bandh has nothing to do with any cause. Is it not funny that a political party decides to call a nation wide bandh without asking the citizens who make the nation. And we poor citizen just sit and watch while someone else decides for us. The fact is, it is all about showing your muscle and screaming your presence. Petrol prices have gone up and we all are facing the heat. But how does it help when you force the nation to incur huge losses to the tunes of thousands of crores by stopping trade, burning public transport, forcing the citizens to sit at home. Why don’t political parties sit on hunger strikes or adopt other non violent means to draw attention. Or even better call for a ‘no car day’. Two days in a fortnight if we shun the use of our cars/transport the consumption will come down along with prices (that’s my understanding)

Anyway, this post is not about sitting and grudging about issues. Everyone does THAT only. Let’s try and do something which ‘not’ everyone does. Lets do ‘our’ bit for ‘ourselves’. No social work, no philanthropy, no charity. Lets do something for ourselves. Let’s be cleverly mean. Let’s try and popularise bicycles once again. I remember my schooldays when going on my cycle along with friends used to be so much fun. Not many of you know that I have had a bicycle for the last four years AND I HAVE BEEN USING IT! As an actor it becomes a little difficult to move around on a bicycle but off late I have discovered ingenious ways to move around( got this wonderful slip on scarf to cover my face). I go to my gym or my in laws house(they live quite close by) on my bicycle whenever possible. It is so much fun. It also gives me a mental kick about saving fuel and contributing to the environment. I don’t have to look for parking spaces and i don’t have to look at the fuel pumps. I recently had to go to a five star hotel close to my house for a meeting and I was cycling my way back home after my work outs. Since I was running super late for the meeting I decided not to take the detour to my house only to pick up my car. I was worried as to how the valet guys would react and whether they will accept my bicycle for parking etc. To my surprise when I reached there I was not just accorded a warm welcome but I also heard people whispering – “Wow”! “Look at him.”, ” i should also get my cycle out” etc etc. So the moral of the story is – you will not discover certain things till you don’t do them. I urge all those who have bicycles and are not using it to think about it. Not just will we be saving the environment but we will also be fitter, smarter and ahead of lot of people(in a traffic situation like Mumbai you will literally be ahead of all the cars :) ) So we do something for ourselves and yet do something for everyone. Is it not clever? Think about it!

Love and smiles

    • true.. completely agree wid u di.. king se jyada modest maine kisi ko nahi dekha.. sabka khyal rakte he(siwaye apne.. khair uske lie u r der.. ) he is the most sweetest person i ever have in my life.. i irritate him with my mails.. and after getting no reply already know he is busy in work i ask so many times” are u angry with me..? ” still not getting irritate he says ‘m not angry with u..’ still i asks d same.. knowing very well that my mails r read with him, i asks.. n makes him irritate but he never dislikes me.. love u my king n m very lucky that m ur fan.. crazzy silly whatever but m urs.. tedhi medhi jo bhi hai par hai bas aapki.. and rahegi bhi.. :p :)

we kehne ko he doesnt believe in GOD but he follows the path showed by HIM.. king always do his part of.. and m sure one day he will blessed with it.. he does his KARM and its Fal will be very sweet n he will definitely get this one day.

and i believe in God and i believe dat God help those who help themselves. my mom says bhagwan sabko ek ek dhaga de rahe hai.. par use pakadna hamare upper depend karta hai.. hum sabki ek common problem hai.. wo yeh hai ki hum hamesha complain karte hai.. par jitna hamare bas me hai utni bhi hel hum apni nahi karte.. agar koi galat karta hai to ye kehte he ki ye banda galat kar raha hai.. par ye nahi ki hum khud use roke ki bhai tum galat kar rahe ho aisa mat karo.. ek darr hamesha rehta hai ki kaun is jhamele me fassega.. jo hoga dekha jayega kar ke to dekhe wali soch ki kami hum sab me hai.. aur karne se pehle sochna ki mujhpar koi musibat to nahi hogi ya mujhe isse kya fayeda.. ye soch hum sabko aage badne nahi deti.. i really appreciate Ms Mamta banerjee.. who resigned for unfairness around her. without being selfish she has done what she felt true. m not here to promote anyone. it was only an example.

once again there was BHARAT BAND. who is benefited with it? Indians? so many people loss of finance, so many loss of employment, so many loss of time.. was it the fair way of protest? has it reduce dizel n lpg prices? has it result with rollback of FDI? no.. in fact our so called param pujniya ministers without concerning with major parties of parliament has applied this at midnight.. i wonder is our democracy is of the people for the people by the people in real sense..

no one asks public before making rules n regulation.. at the time of election with trust and believe we vote a person thinking he will forgetting own benefits will work for our benefits. but after electing them they forget us and thinks about themselves only… this is what democracy is in our country.. and v dumb people are left with no other option but to wait for next 5 years.. and in between this long time they kills our trust our emotions our pockets and our finance which is handed over to them with a believe it will be use for ‘our development ‘ which is i guess they think we have said ‘this is for your development”

i have lots of things to say.. but have nothing to do with it.. but ya.. i will definitely search for alternatives to protect my rights. otherwise my saying is just a wastage..

      anyways..

wishing u both a very happy life ahead.. and huge success in ur life ahead..

waiting for ur upcomings. eagerness is increasing for RAJEEV-PRACHI onscreen..

  3. You spoke it out so well. I have a bicycle at home-and recently as I have been busy with my college I have almost stopped using it. And now your blog entry gave me an insight to it. I shouldn’t just ignore my bicycle-I will surely take it out get it repaired and use it.
It was a great blog entry. And loved the pic that you added with your bicycle. You have bought it all so beautifully that if my parents told me about this i won’t care much. Now that you have put it in simple words and added the meeting incident to it,it sounds different alltogether.
Yes there’s no point in sitting and cribbing about things. It’s time we act and do our part.
    Keep updating the blog.

Did a careful study to see six differences, but could see only one. There is more of you and your Kona firemountain’s front tyre in the second.
The photo makes the post very very complete! :-)

Love you :) :D would love to go for a ride:D

  11. Hi, your blog brings to mind the Queen song ‘I want to ride my bicycle’.
You say bandh I say loss
You say petrol hike I say cycle.
We are top philanthropists and the most charitable people, we bleed to bail out those on either side of the Atlantic. So, as they are taking us for a ride we will be cleverly mean and go for a ride on a cycle or walk to board a public transport to be fitter, have a fatter purse and more importantly to leave behind a world that’s as good as the one we inherited.

HAVE SEEN A PIC OF YOUR BIKE! It had a white flower stuck on the handle bar. Can imagine you with a scarf as remember seeing a pic of you with a white scarf covering your face in TB. Haha a real disguise, unlike the thick glasses and mousch have seen till now in the serial.

Moral of both the blogs – try new things, think out of the box to have a joyous meaningful ride.
Moral of this blog – By catching us so soon Rajeev Writes the Talk :) . By using the cycle often he doesn’t just talk about environment he Rides the Talk :-) .

And your post looks incomplete without an accompanying photo.

  12. hi rajeev……., i m agree wd u., we will happy for one more holiday.. Bt as a citizen of India, we hv to think about for our India.. Just bandh for a day is just not a solution. As its a big loss to our trade., economy n many other things, bt why our govt. dont understand this… Making stupid laws n increasing petrol prices n in every sector. Last month here in indore had a food strike just govt impose a rule tht food will b packed n sold in heavy machinerys only even milk too. Its nt posible for every manufacture. Jo kisan gav me subah 3 baje uthkr buffalows ka milk sb jagah pahunchate wo kaha jayenge.? N the big shame ws it ws a big loss actually whn food strike ws in indore the whole truck of milk ws wasted on road. N no one stopped tht. I m sorry i m soo personal over ds. Bt ds is an effect of bandh. D loss is nt of govt or ny political party bt its a loss of every normal citizen

  13. Hi Rajeev!
First of all so happy that your updating your blog regularly as you have some time out of your busy schedule so thanks for that :) It really feels great to read a new post it makes us feel for a little while that were connected to you. Interesting post RK and what can I say that’s just the way it is in politics,   I don’t think its going to change anytime soon. Also it’s good to hear your opinions on all different types of subjects. The gas prices rising is a  huge topic here as well in the US as my dads business is related to gas I can say it’s not looking  good for a while. Actually it’s getting more expensive day by day. You bicycle? I didn’t know that. I actually love bicycling it’s a hobby of mine. However I do feel bad that you have to disguise yourself to even go bicycling but after all your a public figure and so many people love and adore you. Bicycling to meeting now that’s something new I think everyone can learn something from you whether there celebrity or not. And yes I have to agree the best of bicycling is beating the traffic. California traffic is insane but I can imagine Mumbai’s being worse!

Thanks for being so wonderful! Keep Inspiring! Lots of love and best wishes for you always :)

    Love Amrita

  14. Well , That is completely agreed. I also love to ride bicycle :P :P
I fink Sports cycle should come to market in a huge rate rather than bikes and cars. It would be better. and healthy also

  15. hey bro…gud to see ur updates.hope u’ll now be more frequent wid updates like this on thought provoking matters.as for the bandh, the parties just need a cough or sneeze to call foe it.cycling away to healthy future is a great idea n lets do it !!!
    Cheers

  16. hiiii RK

i just can’t believe to understand the rising prices!!!!!!!!

mujhe to lagta hai ki ye sab jo kiya ja rha h ye strikes,,,,bharat bandh etc…etc… its all waste of time…
because pehele to log black money ko chupaate hai nd fir jab government ko prices badhane padhte hai to strikes b karte hai………….how is this foolish!!!!!!!
hmari country me itna black money hai …….itna black money hai ki me challenge k saath keh sakti hun ki koi b aam hindustani us digit ko first time me bina count kiye likh hi nhi sakta…..use place value chart(ones, tens, hundred, thousand etc…etc)ki help leni hi padegi……

jab koi ise likh nhi pata phir b itne bade bade ghotaale ho jaate h…isn’t this unfair!!!!!!

anyways……..i think ur bicycle idea is awesome nd luckily i’m having my bicycle,,,so i promise to use it………nd will definately help for our nation…….

    lots of smiles nd wishes!!!!

  18. hi!

good to see u updated ur blog on this issue….. These bandhs only harass the common man who is already facing too many problems in day to day life….. Ur bicycle idea is good but people in delhi have to travel a lot my hubby use to travel 65 km a day so here bicycle is of no use….. I liked ur idea of no car day once a week would be good we would save fuel…….. In India the common man is taken for a ride by all the politicians….. The govt could work on ways to control prices but they are least interested…. The opposition does the same thru the bandh it more of show of power than anything else……

Thanks for being in touch with us…. A request if u come to delhi for a shoot pls inform us would like to meet u,…

    All the best…..

  19. salam i m very happy to see updating your blog .. it feels great to be in touch with u.. iam from Pakistan so i dont hv any experience about “bharat band ” kind of holiday :-) .. brilliant idea for by cycles but unfortunately i cant do this.. as iam Muslim and a female so cant ride on bicycle here.. so u enjoy ur cycling nd take care of yourself
    keep smiling alwyz
    God bless u

  20. wow
this is just amazing .u too luv cycling????well,i completely agree wid u.bicycle is a great companion especially in cities which helps u to get ahead in blocks, lesser pollution n is in itself a great fitness solution.i hav read a lot of articles about the benefits of cycling.even i take my bicycle for workouts.it completes my warm up n cooling down sessions.n there is nothing which can replace the refreshing breeze u get during the early morning cycling.it pumps up your day though i’m missing my passion for the time being,am sure i’ll get back to it in a couple of weeks.
and u enjoy ur cycling,n take care of your scarf ;-) now that u hav disclosed the fact, guess u’ll hav to find an alternate solution to protect your identity
    luv n smiles……..:-)

  21. Hello and Assalamualaikum RK,

so good to see you updating your blog regularly.. it feels great to be in touch with you RK :D so thank you for doing this.

coming back to you point, well whether its about pak or india we have mashAllah got same scenarios when it comes to political parties. The problem is, being a politician you just care about yourself.Though you pose to be concerned about janta but actually there is nothing you care about your country men.
you make them suffer and you engage them in problems so that you can express your concern, so that they wont gauge what you are doing. in reality no one cares for you expect yourself..

Reg your idea for by-Cycles, wow again exciting but i cant have this ride :( ok don’t laugh but seriously i wish i could learn cycling …but i never learnt. :( .

But yes by doing this i believe we would be at least satisfied on individual level that we are done with our part.

brilliant idea and amazing post. stay blessed and keep rocking RK.

    Love and hugs
    Regards
    Fatima

  22. Hello rajeev sir, its good to see that you are updating your blog with this kind of issue . Bharat bandh means lots of loss in every field and then there will be one more hike in prices to overcome the losses . everyone is concern about price rising but nobody is interested in the reason behind the price rising. everyone getting frustated and coming on roads to strike and movements but they get nothing just waste of time , work and energy and the cycling is best from all aspects but some people consider it as against their image but i want to say that when a personality like a rajeev khandelwal can ride on bicycle it means anyone can do it. there is many advantages of cycling.
    Wish you a success, purnima

    • Agree wid u n madhumita.. Is band se farmeres ko loss hua jinhe wese b is hot summer ki waja se loss ho raha tha.. Is bar unke fresh vegitables ko dealer nahi milega.. Poor rickshawpuller and taxiwala n odrs ko aj wage nahi milehga.. Poor labours in construction n in factories unhe ajka wage nahi milega.. Waiters in resturant n so on.. Jo b loss he inhe he.. Students jinke xams the aj.. Unko prob hogi.. Jinke aj trains the jiski tickets k lie na jane kitna headache suffer kia hoga.. Unko safar ki jaga suffer karna padega.. In sabse better hota not to buy petrol by nation for a day.. Isse jo loss genuine loss in petrolium company’s ko hota wo aur govt. Mafi mangte huepetrol ka price reasonable karte.. Aur ye ppl.. Dey too will not change.. Dey will sout in rise of price.. But dey will not preserve fuel.. Bolne ya tokne se b kuch farq nahi padta..

  23. hii Rajeev,
waise maine socha nahin tha aap iss topic ko le kar Blog update karoge.Waise main West Bengal se hoon, iss State main bandh bohut aam chiz hai, kuch din pehle bandh matlab sab kuch stop, school main mujhe bhi bohut maaza aata tha, woww, free holiday, aaj bach gaayi, kuch bhi ho jaaye bandh, aaj Bangla bandh, lee, mujhe aaj tak nahin pata kya fayda hua???pehle to bandh matlab sab kuch full stop tha, but i think thoda bohut badal to aa raha hai, hamare Bengal main Rail Roko bohut hi common chiz hai, kaam pe jaa rahe ho aap aur train bandh ho gaaya, phir ek long wait kab yeh log baksh denge, but log ab protest kar rahe hai, sab log aa kar bandh hata rahe hai, aaj hamare yaha bus to bandh hai, but yes, subah jab train rokne ki kohsish ki gaayi tab log hi haata diye, police ne bhi help ki, aise protest karna chayiye, coz sabse zyada muskil hum common logo ko face karna padhta hai, Bandh afterall koi solution nahin.hamare political leaders unn logo ke baat nahin sochta jo daily wages pe kaam karte hai, aaj to unn logo ka koi earning nahin hoga, dont understand bandh kaise mass protest weapon ho sakte hai??By the way Cycle use karna good idea, main har waqt cycle hi use karti hoon, my favourite sawari, why, coz mujhe bike chalana aur driving nahin aati, he he, exercise bhi hota hai, aur Environment polluted bhi nahin hota, lekin Petrol price hike hone ki effect se i dont think hum sirf cycle use karke bach sakte hai, long distance hum cycle se nahin jaa sakte, bus fare, auto fare, taxi fare sab badh gaaye hai, Electicity ka bhi price badh gaaya, har chiz ki market price badh jayegi, coz transport effected hua hai, Government ko thoda to hum logo ke taraf dekhna chayiye, recently election nahin, to hum common people nahin.

    • hey madhumita i m totally agree with u yarrr………ye bharat band ka direct impact ham logo pe hota he…..aaj mera exam tha…….bharat band se hamare collage ko koi effect nahi hua jesa kam chalta he wesa chal raha tha……………ham shanti se exam de rahe the or bahar o kuchh political log jor jor se nare laga rahe the……..unn logo ne hamare pure collage ki band bajake rakh diya………itane achhe city ko kabad khana bana ke rakh diya he……..ye sab dekh ke sach me itana disappointed fill hua……inn bato ka kya kare yahi nahi pata

  24. I cant ride bycycle.. But ya.. My small contribution to environment.. If i m not in hurry n distance is very less.. I use to walk.. :-)

  25. Woww riding a bicycle is soo kool :)
    I also want a bicycle :(
and yaa It will be better for our health too :P
    Love yaaa

  26. Wow.. Its a wonderful idea for our environment.. And also for dos ppl’s health.. Who are fat.. Having cholestrol or bp problem and wants to reduce der weight but don have tym for xcercise.. And if everyone adopts dis idea and have bycycles.. Road accident number will also decrrease.. It is another thing dat for long travels or carrying high luggage u cant depend on cycle.. But for other things its a fantastic idea.. Comfort makes life eazy but people lazy..

Unfortunately i donno bycycle riding.. :-( Warna me b ye idea zarur lagati..

    Love u a lott
    ur fan
